Tupy renews partnership with Eureciclo seal
December 27, 2022
The commitment to sustainable practices is reinforced by promoting packaging recycling in the Brazilian multinational company’s hydraulic business
Tupy, through its partnership with the Eureciclo seal, has just reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the recycling of post-consumption packaging of its connection line distributed in Brazil. One year after joining the seal, the environmental and social results are impressive. The Company benefitted 39 recycling operators in the first cycle of the partnership. The transfers reached recyclable sorting centers in 22 states, among which AM, MG, MT, PB, PI, RR, RS, SC, and SP.
More than contributing to environmental preservation, the operation has positive economic impacts by generating income for recycling cooperatives. Eureciclo connects the cooperatives responsible for collecting the material, recyclers, those responsible for the proper destination based on each type of material, and the partner companies of the entity.
In addition to the partnership with Eureciclo, which aims at certifying that at least 22% of the packaging of Tupy’s connection products is recycled, the Company carries out other actions related to waste management and circular economy. Last year, the Company transformed around 500 thousand tons of scrap into high-value-added products, reduced the destination of hazardous waste to landfills by 57%, and reported a 73% ratio of reuse water/total consumed in all units.
