ShiftT, Tupy’s startup accelerator, tours Brazil and expands its program for startups from other countries
July 20, 2022
Registrations for the second acceleration cycle open until Augusto 31
In its second year of operations, ShiftT, Tupy’s startup accelerator, expands the search for entrepreneurs. In addition to Brazilian startups, startups from other countries can also participate. There were more than 100 startups registered from all Brazilian regions in the first cycle.
To expand the reach, the team leading the initiative will tour Brazil to present the program’s value proposition to local innovation ecosystems. So far, the states of Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte, Santa Catarina, and São Paulo have already events confirmed.
There are currently four companies being accelerated by ShiftT:
- Exy: creator of a wearable exoskeleton that contributes to employee ergonomics;
- Green Fuel: created a system for combustion engines that reduces gas emissions and fuel consumption by using hydrogen;
- Hedro: has technologies to prepare industrial, commercial, and rural environments with intelligent wireless sensors;
- Pix Force: designs computer vision and machine vision solutions, based on artificial intelligence and machine learning.
“The opportunity to partner with a great company with high credibility in the industry sparked the interest in ShiftT’s acceleration program. We expect to combine skills to enter the market with a new product that increases customer competitivity and contributes to the environment. Therefore, we have to overcome the challenges related to all innovations, and ShiftT has been very important in this trajectory”, says Marcos César Pereira da Silva, CEO of Green Fuel.
“ShiftT has an operating model completely different than other existing accelerators. The creation of value for the accelerated startups is unique, since, in addition to conventional benefits (paid proof of concept, for instance), the connection with Tupy’s professionals and knowledge raises both sides to another level of performance and results”, says Daniel Moraes, Head Innovation and Digital Transformation at Tupy.
The relevant projects and initiatives announced by Tupy last year, such as partnerships in battery recycling, projects that enable the use of new fuels, such as hydrogen, and the launch of the Open Innovation Portal, among others, expand the field of operation and possibilities for co-development and innovation with the accelerated startups.
“Tupy is a singular innovation and technology platform, and ShiftT enables the connection of startups with the opportunities created in the Company”, adds Daniel Moraes
The program
Among the highlights of ShiftT’s value proposition is the equity-free concept, i.e. entrepreneurs do not need to renounce part of their company to participate in the acceleration process. ShiftT’s assumptions also include total respect for the intellectual property of the startups and their talents.
In addition to the connection with Tupy’s entire structure, the selected entrepreneurs will be exclusively mentored by around 30 Company professionals with experience in the most diverse areas of knowledge.
Areas of interest
The program is open to Brazilian and international startups that fit into the following fronts:
- Business Synergy: solutions that propose significant innovation and that can be quickly scaled with Tupy’s support;
- Sustainable Development: economically feasible businesses that provide positive social and environmental impact;
- Digital and Industry 4.0: creation of value based on the application of emerging technologies that can boost Tupy’s digital transformation journey;
- Innovative Business Models: initiatives that propose new ways to address the challenges faced in Tupy’s value chains.

Why ShiftT?
The accelerator’s name is composed of the verb “shift”, which indicates the concept of change and movement that is a feature of the startups’ creative energy. And the capital “T” relates to the Company’s name. The letters “S” and “T” begin and end the brand name, showing that the startup is expanded by Tupy and Tupy is expanded by the startup, i.e. the idea is to expand, scale the business of those who participate in the Acceleration Program while Tupy also accelerates its innovation cycle.
