Recognized as Best Supplier 2013 and Top Position in Environmental Actions

Joinville, November 29, 2013 – The largest iron foundry in Latin America and one of the world leaders in the manufacture of blocks and heads for the automobile industry, Tupy received on November 18, in São Paulo, two Meritor do Brasil awards. Tupy’s customer since 2008, Meritor is one of the major manufacturers of shafts and systems for commercial vehicles in South America, and it annually awards its best suppliers.

Known as “Action Axis – Meritor Suppliers Meeting”, the event exalts the performance of partners which render services within the compliance standards established by the company. This year, Tupy received two awards: Best Supplier 2013 and Top Position in Environmental Actions

This was the first time environmental projects were awarded by Meritor. Tupy was awarded because of the set of six environmental initiatives the company adopted – among them the recycling of residues and industrial effluent treatment with reuse in the factory process.

The award of Best Supplier 2013 was granted to Tupy for its good performance in service, lead time and product quality. Besides the multinational headquartered in Joinville (SC), other suppliers had their work and contribution recognized in the event.

The operations of Meritor in South America are centralized in Brazil. The company has facilities in Osasco City (SP), where it manufacturers shafts, cardan drives and parts for commercial and off road vehicles, and it is part of the Modular Consortium and of the Supplier Park of MAN, in Resende City (RJ). The Brazilian operation features an engineering center, responsible for product development, and supplies parts to the spare part market, besides keeping a joint venture with Randon in the country (Freios Master).
