The donations are part of the multinational’s 85th anniversary celebrations and will benefit children from the Salão do Encontro (Meeting Hall) – Filhote unit and APAE

Tupy delivers a socio-educational space and the donation of computer equipment to the Betim community on Tuesday, March 7. The delivery of social investments is part of the Company’s 85th anniversary celebrations, celebrated on March 9.

“The relationship with the community is one of the Company’s Values, supporting not only its economic but also its social development. In Betim, investments were made in the areas of Education and Diversity and Inclusion,” says Rhaiana Rizzi, who leads the Social Responsibility actions at Tupy.

Access to and encouragement of technology is directly connected to education, one of Tupy’s social investment focuses. With this, one of the benefited institutions will be the Salão do Encontro – Filhote unit, where the Company will make the donation of computer equipment. The organization is close to the Company, in a region considered of high degree of social vulnerability, which highlights the importance of the project – which has already served more than 500 children – for the community. The solemnity of delivery of the space is scheduled for this Tuesday, for 9am at the institution.

In addition to the 14 computers donated, the room was painted by Transformadores Tupy –  a group of volunteer collaborators, responsible for the development and engagement in social responsibility activities – which performs the mapping of risk points in neighborhoods close to the industry.  “This donation contributes to the workshops offered by the institution, including the practice of informatics, an important tool for digital inclusion, in addition to assisting in school research and preparation for the job market that we offer to young people,” says the social coordinator of the Salão do Encontro, Alzely Lucas dos Santos.

Tupy will also deliver the first sports court built exclusively for bocce practice to the APAE Day-Center of Betim, starting at 2 pm. With the socio-educational space, the idea is to enable the practice of sport for people with intellectual disabilities and, with that, the improvement of cognitive skills and increased self-esteem.

Centro-Dia is a non-profit unit of APAE, specialized in serving young people and adults with disabilities who do not have autonomy. The institution serves 70 People with Intellectual Disabilities (PcDi), between 18 and 50 years old. Due to limitations in structure and human resources, users are divided into groups, and attend the unit twice a week, in the afternoon shift.

“In this unit, we develop activities for group coexistence, strengthening social relations and giving support and guidance to family caregivers. With this donation, we will expand the experience of users and we will be able to put into practice the psychosocial development plan of the institution,” says Patrícia Gil Silva, coordinator of APAE.
