Multinational company Tupy is completing its 85th anniversary and among the celebration activities to take place over the year is the 28th Half-Marathon sponsored by the Company, taking place on March 5. The sports event is also part of the schedule to celebrate the 172nd anniversary of the city of Joinville.

“Tupy’s history is linked with Joinville’s from the start, with this date already marking the celebration of the city’s anniversary. And as health is part of the Company’s social investment agenda, there is nothing better than celebrating the anniversaries of Tupy and Joinville by promoting more health for the Joinville people,” stated Sayonara Moreira, Tupy’s Corporate Communications and Marketing Manager.

Founded on March 9, 1938, in the city of Joinville, Tupy has over 20 thousand employees working at its plants in Brazil and abroad. Tupy Half-Marathon

The Half-Marathon is a traditional competition that should gather over 1,500 athletes in front of the Cau Hansen Events Center, in downtown Joinville. The competition consists of 2 road running events of 21 kilometers and 5 kilometers, to take place on Sunday (5), starting at 6:00 a.m. and 6:15 a.m., respectively. Kits containing the event’s exclusive
T-shirt cost R$95 and R$80. Tupy employees and their dependents will have a discount. They should register at Tupy Athletic Association.

One of the novelties of this edition of the event is the kids run to take place on Saturday (4), at 4:00 p.m. It will consist of a 50-to-300-meter run for kids aged 3-13, with kits costing R$45. The kids run will take place at Tupy Athletic Association located in the Boa Vista neighborhood, in front of the Company’s building.

“The kids run will be held for the first time one day prior to the main run. For this reason, we are preparing other special attractions for the kids. The run participants, employees’ family members and the community will also be able to enjoy the Association’s entire facilities, which have playgrounds, sand and kids courts, circuit training, and an outdoor gym,” states Valdecir de Melo, manager at Tupy Athletic Association.

The 5-km and the 21-km runs will award winners in the Male and Female categories. The participants will run along well-known city streets. The run course is flat, which is ideal for the best personal records. The competition will be managed by Federação Catarinense de Atletismo (the Santa Catarina State Athleticism Federation). Those who are not Tupy employees may register through February 25 at www.km.esp.br.
